Baltics are Dancing (2009)
In 2008 the concert tradition of Baltic Agricultural Universities folk groups was resurrected. The concert takes place every year in different Baltic countries except the year when Gaudeamus is held. This year the concert was organized in Jelgava, Latvia on the 28th of March. In addition to dancing all the groups also took part in sports contests that were held in the morning. In Latvia Tarbatu participated with four groups which was 64 dancers and therefore two teams was banded together. This time the winner of the competition was Friendship. The Two-hour concert started at 6 pm and contained two parts. Like the year before in Tartu the concert started and ended with co-dancing. Those dances were learned and digested on the same day. Tarbatu performed eleven dances all together: Viru Simmanil, Killadi – Kõlladi, Kiitus, Läki tantsule, Pidumarss, Riidaja polka, Tuljak, Igavene labajalg and Tuurit-tuurit. At the end of the day there was an informal party to all folk groups and they had to perform so-called homework which had the theme: "And the Winner of Eurovision 2009 is...!" |
